Russian diamond miner AGD Diamonds announced last week that the processing department of the country's Grib mine has newly discovered a gem-quality rough diamond weighing 50.36ct. This diamond has a complete crystal form like a standard textbook and has good clarity. This is the second largest diamond discovery in the Grib mining area this year, after the 86.46ct rough diamond "George Georgiev" produced in January. The mining area is famous for producing large-grain diamonds. In 2019, a total of 11 rough diamonds over 50ct were mined, including rough diamonds weighing 222.09ct, 199.43ct and 127.34ct. The Grib diamond mine is located in northwestern Russia and is one of the largest diamond deposits in the world. The diamond reserves in this mining area are about 98.5 million carats, ranking fourth in Russia and seventh in the world. The annual diamond production is about 3.62 million carats.
